1 Introduction

Koptan ("we", "our", "us") provides a Chrome browser extension and a web application at koptan.com (together, the "Service") that help you manage your own accounts on the platforms we support, currently Facebook, Instagram and Threads (each a "Platform", and together the "Platforms"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the Service accesses and collects, how that data is used, where it is stored, how long it is kept, and who it is shared with.

Koptan does not require an account and does not ask you to register, and we operate no server that receives your Platform data. By using the Service you acknowledge and agree to this Privacy Policy.

2 Where Your Information Lives

Koptan runs inside your own browser, using the account you are already signed in to on the Platform. Everything a tool shows you is brought straight to your device and stays there.

There is no Koptan server that receives your Platform information. That is a deliberate choice, and it is the reason the rest of this policy is as short as it is.

What this means for you: The people behind Koptan cannot see your friends, your posts or your messages. Not because we promise not to look, but because none of it ever reaches us.

3 Data We Access and Collect

The Service accesses and collects the following, and nothing else:

Your Platform sign-in: Koptan works through the session you already have open on the Platform, the same one that keeps you signed in when you visit it yourself. To know which of your accounts is active and to carry out the actions you ask for, Koptan reads a small number of the sign-in cookies your browser already holds for that Platform. They are used for that and nothing else, they are never saved on your device, and they are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Your Platform content: The lists and items you ask Koptan to load, such as friends, followers, accounts you follow, posts, comments, reactions, groups, pages and messages, together with the results of the actions you run on them. This content is fetched from the Platform straight into your browser and is stored only on your own device, as described in Section 5.
Website analytics: Like most websites, koptan.com uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the site itself is being used, such as which pages people open and where they get stuck. This is what tells us which parts of the site need improving. It is about the website, not about you: it is never linked to your name, and it cannot reach your Platform account.
Messages you send us: If you write to our support address we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to answer you.

4 How We Use Your Data

Each type of data has one purpose, and is used for that purpose only:

Your Platform sign-in: Used to identify which of your accounts is currently active and to carry out the requests you ask Koptan to make on your behalf. It is used for nothing else.
Your Platform content: Used to display the lists you asked for, to let you filter and select items, and to carry out the actions you choose to run. We never analyze it, profile it or aggregate it.
Locally stored copies: Used so you can reopen a tool without loading everything from the Platform again, and so a run that was interrupted can resume where it stopped.
Website analytics: Used to see which pages and features people use, to find the parts of the site that are confusing or broken, and to make it better.
Support messages: Used only to reply to you.

5 Where Your Data Is Stored and How Long We Keep It

Koptan has no server-side database and no user accounts. Everything the tools load is stored on the device you are using, inside your own browser:

On your device: The lists and results a tool loads are saved in your browser's own storage, so you can open that tool again without waiting for everything to load a second time. Each account is kept separate, so nothing from one account or one Platform ever mixes with another.
Your preferences: Small settings such as your language, theme, sidebar and the columns you chose to hide, together with which account is currently active on each Platform. No password, and nothing from your Platform sign-in, is ever saved here.
With our analytics providers: Google and Microsoft hold the website analytics on their own systems and delete it on their own schedules, within 14 months for Google Analytics and within 30 days for Clarity. We see it only as anonymous, combined reports.

Saved data does not pile up. Anything a tool saved is cleared automatically after three days, and you can clear a single tool's saved data yourself at any time with the Clear Cache button inside that tool. Koptan also clears what it saved for a Platform as soon as you sign out of it or switch to a different account there. To remove everything at once, see Section 9.

No copy on our side: We keep no backup, mirror or export of anything the tools load. If you clear your browser data, that data is gone permanently and we cannot restore it.

6 Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes. The Service involves only these third parties:

The Platforms themselves: Requests you ask Koptan to run are sent to Facebook, Instagram or Threads from your own browser, exactly as your browser would send them if you performed the same action on the Platform's own website. Those requests are governed by that Platform's privacy policy.
Our analytics providers: Google and Microsoft receive the website analytics described in Section 3, from the koptan.com website only. The extension itself carries no analytics at all.

Nothing from the Platforms, and nothing from your sign-in, is ever sent to Google, to Microsoft, or to anyone else. We would hand data to law enforcement only where the law requires it, and since we hold none of your Platform data there is nothing of that kind for us to hand over.

7 What Koptan Never Does

In line with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements, Koptan never does any of the following:

Sell your data, or transfer it to data brokers, information resellers or advertising networks
Use any data for advertising, retargeting, personalized ads, or to build an advertising profile of you
Use any data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes
Ask for, receive or store your password on any Platform. Koptan works only through the session you have already opened in your own browser
Send your Platform content or your sign-in to a Koptan server, because we operate none that receive them
Access, collect or store other users' private data beyond what the Platform already shows you on screen

Use of the data the extension accesses is limited to providing and improving the features you see in the interface, and we do not transfer it to third parties except where the law strictly requires it.

8 Security

Because there is no central store of your data, there is no database of Koptan users for anyone to break into. Your Platform content stays on your device, and your sign-in never leaves your browser.

Everything Koptan sends travels over an encrypted connection. The safety of what is saved on your device depends on the security of that device, so we recommend you keep it protected and clear Koptan's saved data when you use a shared computer.

9 Your Rights and Deleting Your Data

You are always in control, and you do not need to ask us in order to exercise these rights, because your data is on your device:

See what is kept: Everything Koptan holds is what you already see inside the tools. There is no hidden profile, and no separate copy held anywhere else.
Delete everything: Clearing this site's data in your browser removes every saved list, the action history and all your preferences, immediately and permanently.
Stop all access: Removing the extension from Chrome ends its ability to read anything or send any request. Signing out of a Platform also makes Koptan clear what it had saved for that Platform.
Opt out of analytics: You can turn analytics off with a content blocker or a privacy setting in your browser. Koptan's tools keep working exactly the same either way.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, you also have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over any personal data we hold. In practice the only personal data we can hold is what you send us by email. To exercise those rights, or to ask anything about them, write to us at:

10 Children's Privacy Protection

Koptan is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect or process any data from them. If you believe a child has used the Service, please contact us at:

11 Platform Disclaimer

Koptan interfaces with the Platforms to provide its features. Use of the Service in a manner that violates a Platform's policies may affect your account. You are solely responsible for using Koptan in compliance with each Platform's terms. Koptan is not liable for Platform policy violations or resulting account consequences.

12 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in Koptan, in the Platforms, or in the third-party services we use. Any changes are posted on this page and the "last updated" date at the top is revised, and continued use of the Service indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
